Your Family Vacation
This body of work deals with the family vacation. I am interested in the vacation as a getaway from reality. It is an escape from normality to this "other" place that you go to for a short time only to return back to your "real" life, one that is less interesting and more stressful that this temporary excursion. On this vacation you document through the eye of a camera. Rather than stepping back and absorb the situation, most people look through the camera and take a picture for future memory. In this series of "vacation photos" I am doing just the opposite. I am making the images from memory, reversing the role and speaking about perception and how one does this act of remembering. All of these photographs were created from constructed models of tabletop scale that I made in the studio.
